Hi,
How is the perimeter zone depth determined for HVAC design. I think there is no zone boundary as such (e.g. internal wall) between the perimeter zone and core zone. What is the criterion?

Thanks

Good question. "Zone integrity" is a design issue which depends on a number of factors; not easily answered in a concise reply. I encourage you to visit the site I reference here, scroll down to Terminal Devices and review the "Varitrane Products Catalog:Application Considerations"

When you get right down to it most good systems are perimeter systems. Most of the load comes from outside unless there is a lot of mechanical equipment inside. If the perimeter is conditioned the rest of the structure is conditioned. That would be particularly true if there is no clear division between zones.
