I need to know about how much horse power is needed to power either a 6 or 8 cly gas engins valve train. Both Intake and Exhaust valves. Say 4 valves per cly. I need this as a percent.

No way to answer, how many cams, compression ratio, valves/cykinder, BMEP, spark v disel, and on...

Your right,I should have been more spcific with my question.
Theres a bunch of specs on this website for a small block V8 engine.

4 valves per cly using 4 over head cams.

If you happen to have the answer using another engine size, please feel free to post it here.

What for? lossen the valve springs to save HP to the valve train, but suffer HP loss when valves "float". It's a trail and error game. Eventually you could run enough combinations to write your own equation taking into account springs, cam lift, rpm, CR, fuel....
