Hi. I would like to identify a bearing as follows:

imagine something the size of a penny that had a flat surface on top and (tiny) ball bearings on bottom, so it could glide around in two dimensions on a flat surface.

does anyone know if this product exists, if it has a name, & who makes it?

thx,
Will

I keep thinking about the very same thing, and imagining there's a fortune to be made there. The part I have trouble imagining is exactly how to make it.

You can get close, though not quite penny-size yet, by stacking linear slides.

See deltron.com and charles-supper.com

clarification - the bearing I need can be thicker than a penny (but not much thicker than .25" or it becomes cumbersome)
