I am new to Pre-engineered Building Industry. What certification requirements are there for a building fully built in shop and transported to industrial site? I've seen the IHB Certification and understand that is applicable per the TDLR. Is that correct and what else is required for certification in Texas to meet applicable building and design codes? Thanks in advance.

What does IHB and TDLR mean? Maybe if I lived and worked in Texas it would be obvious to me, but I don't.

It is Industrial Housing and Buildings and is regulated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. Anyway, this was referenced by a colleague and I’m trying to determine if it governs an unoccupied electrical battery building in a refinery. It seems more applicable to mancamp buildings or commercial buildings. I’m checking with TDLR.

Structengr23,

TDLR and IHB, has some very generous rules on what is an IHB. A large number of the Electrical Equipment Shelter Manufacturers and Electrical Equipment Integrators in Texas have recently been finding out they are required to sign up with TDLR and IHB. With the information you have provided, it is likely going to require IHB certification.

Thank you, Warhamer. I just wanted to make sure we are on the right track. I will recommend that we pursue IHB certification.
