PE natural gas pipe protection

I am looking at the situation were buried PE natural gas pipe must cross over buried electrical cable (120/240 volt). Worst case is the electric cable faults were the PE pipe crosses over. I am looking for some kind of material (inexpensive) to protect the PE gas pipe from the thermal energy of the electric cable fault.
