Hi,

I am planning to take the PE exam this october. I have a bachelor's in civil and master's in environmental engineering. I am looking for a good reference material for the PE exam. Also, amy suggestions as to whether PE-Civil would be better than PE-Environmental.

your suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For reference material look at the NCEES website

also
Professional Publications, Inc.

As for which exam, at the NCEES site (above) you can get an idea of the content of each exam. Suggest that you take the one that best suits your education / experience / interests, without regard for the "Name" of the exam unless you have a specific objective in mind.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to be more mobile with my PE. PE Civil seems to be more general than PE Environmental, but would like to know whether I can use my PE (Civil) if I switch to an geotechnical/water resources firm later in my career.

SlideRuleEra is right--check with the board. But yes, most states don't care. Keep in mind your license won't even show which exam you took. It's up to you, ethically, to decide whether you have the expertise to make a particular engineering decision.

Defin hit up the NCEES site to see which material they recommend based on which PM Session you will be taking.

Also dont forget there "calculator" policy, it seems to change once a year.
