PDMWorks

Our company has chosen to use three revision levels; Prototype (01-99), Release (A-Z) and Production Release (PA-PZ).
PDMWorks allows Primary, Secondary and Tertiary revision schemes.
I cannot get the three to work. I check-In a document at 01 and cannot get it to revise up to A or PA.

Anyone been there, done that?

It sounds like you're confusing major/minor revs with design cycle stages. When you go to production, for example, you'll want to manually bump your file rev up to A, or set up a lifecycle that will take care of that for you.

Would setting up three lifecycles allow for three differing revision formats?
i.e.
Lifecycle: Prototype Rev:01-99
Lifecycle: Release Rev: A-Z
Lifecycle: Production Rev: PA-PA

Your PDMW administrator needs to setup the lifecycles and user access as stated by ArchusDsr and PDMAdmin.

You could create a custom revision format that included all those sequences. That's what we do at my workplace; the lifecycle would bump the revision to the appropriate rev at the appropriate time.

I realize this is different than what you are asking for. If you cannot use it I would understand. We had a similar revision system as yours before PDMWorks. We do not use lifecycles.

Open the PDMWorks 2005 VaultAdmin, Revision Scheme, Revision information. Under Primary From: and To: leave blank, click radio button “Listing”. In that column on the first line enter A for Prototype.
Next line in same column enter R for Release.
Then in the third line enter P for Production.
The first column would look like this:
A
R
P

No Separator if you wish. The Secondary would be 01 in the From: and 99 in the To: Click the radio button below Secondary to Range.
A dash as Separator between Secondary and Tertiary.
Under Tertiary would be 01 in the From: and 99 in the To: Click the radio button below Secondary to Range.
For Working copy enter a plus “+ “.

Prototype would look this: A01-01, A02-01, A03-01 and etc. The -01 is the minor revision.
Release would look this: R01-01, R02-01, R03-01 and etc. The -01 is the minor revision.
Production would look this: P01-01, P02-01, P03-01 and etc. The -01 is the minor revision.
