Hey,
I was thinking it would be cool if SW added BOM option in the Document Infomation area of the vault. I know reporting somewhat does this, but couldn't find an area to add qty. Plus this is a little cleaner, I think anyway.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Colin

Good idea. Anyway the macro can be made available for others?

Chris, are you asking for a copy of macro?

I thought maybe we can make it available for everyone on one of our sites, if OK by the programmer.

It was designed by Leonard Kikstra on 01/13/2006. It would be cool if we could upload it to 3DCC, but will need his permission.

DOH!...Thanks CBL. I didn't think of his name that way, I think of "Lenney" and not "Lawrence".

My bad, I should have put the link in there for ya Chris. The macro is available for download on the site.

So...do ya think it a good idea folks? Chris likes it. I'm thinking this way you don't have to use the macro, plus it gives you qty's (part count)too!

im having trouble with this macro. the flat bom option doesn't seem to work properly. Also i can only get the macro to run once then i have to restart solidworks. Any suggestions?

Just came back from the SW2009 Rollout and Enterprise PDM has this functionality. They made 0 updates to Workgroup PDM. My gut is telling me Workgroup is going away.

Colin,

Which roll out event did you attend, I may have been at the same one.

Joe,
I attended the Tucson Rollout with DDi.

I'm trying to find a thread (my "forum search" thread I posted yesterday)from a couple of weeks ago, and can't seem to find it. It was about PDMworks Workgroup and PDMworks Enterprise and the discussing was about no updates for SW2009 Workgroup. I asked Brian (from DDi)if there was any enhancements for Workgroup in SW2009, and he said no there wasn't. I asked if they even tested SW2009 with Workgroup, and he said yes. So...any of you that have SW2009 SP 0.0 loaded, please let me know how it's working with your PDMworks Workgroup vault. It seems the path SW is taking is PDM Enterprise.

Colin,

Just a lucky coincidence then, I attended the Indianapolis roll out with CATI. It was a good event.

Joe,
Ours was good too. Our VAR always does an excellent job. I was very worried at the beginning because they were focusing on other software products (ie.Driveworks)other than SW. I think the reason being that there were not a lot of changes this year to the SW software, but was very impressed with all the new drawing functionality. That was real cool!

CATI started off with other products for us, but these were little 20-30 minutes presentations. When they got into the meat of '09 we got a little better than a solid hour of pure content. It was CAD heaven.
