Dear Folks;

I am a contractor working with a customer who is using SW 2004 SP4.1 with PDM Works. I want to take the clients assemblies back to my office to work on.

I have the same software and can check out the assemblies without any problem using PDM Works but toolbox parts such as screws and nuts try to search for the path to the customers server when loaded on my computer.

Is there some way to ensure that when files are transferred that toolbox parts can find their respective source directories on my computer ?

Conversely, when I check the files back in to the customers vault computer I need to be sure that toolbox parts wont start trying to find themselves using my computers paths and directories.

Any assistance would be most appreciated !

Best Regards

Two ways:

1) SW Explorer - Open the assembly - Edit\Copy Document -Copy Children - Give path for both assembly and parts and click Apply

2) SolidWorks - File\Find References\Copy Files (Preserve Directory (User choice)) - Browse to location - Click OK

[red]SW Explorer[/red] is the suggested and probably the best way. Because it will preserve any and all in-contexted relationships (If any exist) plus it's just easier IMHO.

Forgot to add about SW Explorer - if you don't want "REV2" in the file name you simply highlight and remove that text. In your case you do not want that.

After re-reading your post - The second option maybe exactly what you need.
