PDM toolbar buttons unresponsive.

Has anyone had the PDMWorks buttons appear grayed (greyed?) out and nonfunctional? This seems to be random and cureable with a few SW restarts. I can go to Tools->PDMWorks.. and do what I need to from the client, but I am still confused by what is cause me to lose my buttons. Here is a screencap:
