PdM Methods/Technologies for MV/HV SwGr

We are looking at other ways to test Medium Voltage 4160/6.9 plus Switchgear. We have used IR windows, with IR Camera, but most make-up points in bus cabinet are "wrapped" with Insulboot. Looking at using Ultrasound currently to add to the tool bag. Any other hints, tips or smart advice? What types of RCM and PdM Technologies are being used at other facilities?
