I was trying to open an Illustrator file in solidworks. I do not have Illustrator. After that experiment, all pdf files that I tried to open were reverting to Solidworks as the default program to open, unless I right-click and select Acrobat. This isn't horrible to have to do but not possible in a email as that selection is not present in the right-click menu.
I went into default programs on the start menu and could not select Acrobat for pdf as the default.
Is there a setting in Solidworks that I need to change?

No. The setting you need to change is in Windows. All files ending in .pdf should default to Acrobat. Somehow that setting got changed on your computer. It happens. There is a way to set the default program for every file type. Check Windows Help for default programs for file types.

Why not? Was it missing from the list? Was the button greyed out? Changing settings locked out by Mordac? Your clicker finger cramped up?

What if you were to uninstall/reinstall Acrobat? That might reset the file association.

Tried uninstall and reinstalling Acrobat. The situation is getting worse as now I have to right click and open in solidworks for all of my solidworks files or a get a pile error messages pertaining to journal files and opening in Illustrator.
