pdf creation

How can I create a pdf of a unigraphics drawing? I know in pro/e you can create a postscript file with the print command. Then you can convert the postscript to pdf with adobe distiller. Is this possible in Unigraphics?

This makes a file.hpp for you. Then use another software called ctrlview to open it and then save as pdf format.

You can also create a postscript plot queue that will create a .ps file in a directory of your choosing that can be opened with freeware called Ghostscript/Ghostview & then converted to PDF.

The only way to create a PDF directly from within UG is if you already have Adobe Acrobat Full version & use the Print command & choose your Distiller or Acrobat printer, which doesn't create a very good PDF...basically a screen dump that is usually out of scale & line weights all wrong.

Can you use pdf995 for Plotting and Printing?

I thought this enabled you to set up a Windows printer and therefore you can only use this utility when selecting File -> Print.

Yes, it only works for printing.

We do a plot to a hpgl file and then use Myriad to open the plot and print to pdf995.

I use pdf995 for plotting too. I setup a plot queue, that sends a .ps file to my "plot" directory. Then with pdf995 and its companion software OmniFormat, which monitors the "plot" directory, the .ps plot files are converted to .pdf's automatically.

win2pdf also works great upto e-size drawings. Very easy to use just select it like you would a printer.
