I am currently trying to model non-linear geometric effects (Pdelta analysis) using a FEM elastic model. The model is for an arch member (in the vertical plane) consisting of 24 elements and is fixed at the supports. The software I am using will not perform a pdelta analysis for a FEM. The element forces vary along the arch due to self-weight, as well as loads at various locations along the member.

I would like to use an iterative approach to estimate the pdelta effects for the member. My question is regarding how to estimate the pdelta effects for each element, that I will then apply to the model. I'm familar with the incremental approach for columns of a building, and was using a similar method by applying point loads at the element nodes. However, after a couple of iterations I realized this approach was incorrect. Any help would be most appreciated.
