thread794-476044: ASME PCC-2 Fillet Welded Patch Repair JAR10 Just saw your 2020 questions about PCC-2 Equation 5. Seems to be a "t" missing from the denominator of the second term. As is, that term is dimensionally incorrect. If hoop stress in original pipe is (PD)/(2t), hoop force per unit axial length is also (PD)/(2t). Edge moment on patch plate (per unit axial length) is (PDe)/(2t). Bending stress at outer fiber of plate is (PDe)/(2t)(T/2)/(T^3/12)= (3PDe/t)/T^2. Submitted a query about this to the code committee a few years ago. Never got a response.

Force per area gives stress, so the equation is dimensionally correct. Recheck your hoop force assumption, you would have to multiply the stress by the area or 't' per unit length.

Force per unit axial length is PD/2...not PD/t. Thanks.
