Pavement Moisture Barrier

To prevent underground moisture penetrating into top pavement, I heared that a layer of a moisture barrier can be applied just beneath the pavement. This technique might have been used at Tennis Courts. Do you know where I can find the technical information about the moisture barrier and the manufacturers?

In the US Monsanto, Amoco and others make geotextile and filter fabrics. They also provide design guidance and specifications. Try searching the web or calling a local representative.

Depending on the situation, I do not think providing a barrier is wise, because depending on the loading, the supporting structure could fail. I would looka at the possibility of an underdrain system that would collect moisture and prevent any kind of water mounding under the pavement structure. KRS Services

I agree with KRSservices...no need for vapor barrier under pavements, divert water with underdrains. Even exterior tennis courts do not need vapor barrier, just keep water from under the slab by interception.
