Will these translate into DXF format ok?

I tried the Symbol method for building one and tested it. It didn't translate at all so that ones checked off the list as an option.

Since you are using NX 9, I'd suggest that you take advantage of the "borders and zones" and "drawing titleblock" tools.

Ok.. took a quick look and really like that the formats snap to the sheet size changes. That's excellent.

But, can the title block be made to follow it? That I didn't have success with.
I also figure special text like units and projection symbols wouldn't either?

The title block can follow in NX10 (it was added to allow an associative origin).
For the units & projection symbol, I would suggest using the automated text.
I made a series of videos for our Vimeo site a year ago about drawing templates, I can't remember which one covered the automated text:

Yes, using patterns in NX9, the pattern does translate into DXF.

Make use of the variable UGII_PATDIR
