Anyone ever figure out a way to do this?
Basically you are trying to do a circular pattern while doing a linear pattern at the same time right?
I'm trying to stack circular plates with arrays of holes in them. But at each level of the stack, the plate needs to be rotated slightly by the center axis.
Things i've tried:
1. creating a part that has a helical sweep, creating it as a surface and mating a point on the disk to the surface then doing a linear pattern. However, as the pattern progresses, the point to surface mate doesn't get copied to the next part.....it simply stacks
2. circular pattern as described here....there is no linear motion to the pattern
3. in the helical sweep part, doing a pattern along curve at the right interval and trying to use that as a feature driven pattern in the assembly. getting the error :cannot pattern: could not find proper pattern location
is there a way to do a linear pattern + circular pattern at the same time?
is an equation based assembly required?
is there a way to do some kind of reference pattern?
there are lots of examples of things moving along splines, but I have never seen an example of say bricks stacking along a spline
