Patch headphones into PA

I’m out of my comfort zone!.. Don’t know enough about electronics

On a Semi Pro-PA setup, I've been asked to patch a set of headphones into the Foldback monitors.

The amp is 150 watt, although only ever run at about 25%. I’ve set up a heavy duty volume pot, between the amp output and headphones. Seems to work, but have a very small amount of movement on the volume knob before it gets to much for the phones (which are a cheap pair, anticipating damage!)

Would a resistor or other component(s) reduce signal enough to allow more senable use of the pot? If so… size, capacity ???

When the volumn is at a max level use a ohm meter to read the resistance to ground and the to the output, useing the wiper as the reference (disconnected from the circuit). Use a resistor for the output value and a potentiometer for the resistor to ground. This should get u in the ballpark.
