parts query in large assembly

does anyone know how to perform a parts query in large assemblies?
for example: i've got a 500 part assembly and i need to find out how many bushings are in the assembly so that i can purchase the correct amount.
so far we've been counting them manually and this is not only time consuming but very painful.

Create a drawing and insert a view of your assembly. Then insert a BOM table.
