Parts List Formating

UI'm having a couple problems with the formating of my part lists in SE V17 draft.

The 'Item' number is followed by a "*" (star).

The insert point is actually +0.007in in the x and y directions then what you tell it. ie, when i tell it to insert at (x,y)=1,1 it goes to (x,y)=1.007,1.007

And its not actually 0.007, its 0.0069874.....

Why would it do this??? Why would UGS program this, makes no sense!!!

Anybody know how to fix this?

Also, for large assemblies we use a 'Zone' heading to tell where the part is located on the drawing. How can I add this heading to the Parts List? It doesn't have to fill in automatically, but it does need to produce the grid.

It's a flag that SE provides to indicate that the item is not ballooned on the drawing. A great idea really.
Either balloon the items, or on the Parts List properties uncheck the "Mark unballooned items" checkbox (on the General tab) , then update the parts list.
They should disappear.

To add a zone callout to the parts list, you first must create a custom property in your parts/assembly templates.

When you place one of these parts/assemblies in a drawing, click the icon to place the BOM, select the view, then select the Properties icon from the Ribbon Bar. The third tab over is Columns. Click it.

Scroll through the available columns in the left pane and add it to the right, positioning it in the order you want. When in the right pane, select it and adjust the formating the lower pane.

Note: By adding a zone column in the BOM, some of your reusable parts are no longer reusable because of the custom property, unless you can somehow manage to make that same part show up in the same zone of every drawing you create. I've had a request to allow for some BOM columns to be controlled by the draft rather than only by part/assembly properties. Still waiting.

Also, to fill in the zone column, use Property Manager to quickly access all the parts/assemblies.

I though the same thing, re-usable parts will end up in different zones, and therefore won't work.

I would also like to be able to edit the text in the BOM manually. You can convert the Parts List to Text, but then it stops updating automatically.

Does anybody know if there is a property that can be give to a part, but it stays with the assembly, not the part file. That way you could assign a 'zone' property to parts but it would be different for each assembly the part is used in.

Just ran into abit of a problem. Under my material heading it puts the material type there and it works fine (except I need to re-name the material so its CAPS).

But for sheet metal parts I need it to put the gage in there also without a whole new column.

Any ideas?

Are you using the material table in v17?

If so, you are not alone in that problem, but I don't think it is going to be resolved until v18, about 9 months away.

Yah, v17.

I going to try and mess around with it because we are a new company, and are going to produce alot of drawings over the next 6 months (before v18).

If anybody finds a way, let me know., and if I find something I'll post it.
