Hello All,

When I place the NX partlist it takes for the PC NO column the format as Number by default.
I would like to change that to Text as default.
Reason for this is we would like to have our component call-outs as 001,002,003. (leading Zero's displayed).

Is it possible to change the default cell format for partlist? I changed it (customer Defaults)for the table annotation but this is not connected.

You have to do that by editing the Drawing template file(s). You have to find the master templates, open each one, edit the definition of the column in the Parts List note and then save the files.

Thanks John!

Seems there are more things I need to arrange in the templates...Was hoping actually everything could be arranged with customer defaults...
What is the reason behind some settings still residing in the templates? Like, I can arrange the colors for the monochrome drawing in customer defaults but the background for the color drawing is still in the template...

Many Customer Default settings are 'Part' specific while others are 'Session' specific. 'Session' specific, while not 100%, are generally the settings which can be changed during a session using Preferences, while 'Part' specific are items that are inherited and retained by the part file at the time of creation, but which can often be changed using Preferences, however they are not affected by any subsequent changes made in Customer Defaults, and that includes when the original template parts were first created from scratch. That is choosing the 'Blank' part option when using the File -> New function will result in a part file that inherits all of the 'Part' specific Customer Default settings. As to what is or what is not 'Part' specific versus 'Session' specific, some things are easy to accept, like is a part 'Metric' or 'English' (or as I prefer to call it, 'Imperial' units) while others a bit more obscure and esoteric and often have to be accepted simply because "that's the way NX works".

Now if you really want to see which Customer Default settings are 'Part' versus 'Session' specific, simply go to Customer Defaults, and in the 'Find Default' dialog (the 'binocular' icon) enter the word 'All'. You will get a list of ALL the Customer Defaults and if you scroll to the far Right side of the window with the list, you will find a column labeled 'Scope' which will show you what's what. You can also go to the 'Manage Current Settings' dialog (next to the 'Find Default' icon showing an 'eye' with an 'arrow' pointing out of it). There you'll find an option to load ALL of the defaults settings to a spreadsheet where it would be much easier to sort through and see what's what.
