I am wondering the easiest way to create the parting line around areas like the photo I'm going to try and add to this. I don't want to follow the edge because I'm going to have a side seal off to create the core out. Do I just create a line across the bottom and use that? Any help is appreciated

For some reason I am not understanding your question.

the notch in the part is the area I'm talking about. I don't want to have a parting line go around it, I'd like to side seal it there with a seal off face.

You'll have to model that manually. The SW mold tools turn out to be pretty limited, and require a lot of manual work to get real work done. Probably the easiest way to do it would be to loft the two long sides together using the short side as a guide curve (lofted surface).
