Hello,

I have a model like a tennis racket with the handle standing up.

In the round section i would like to make a 5 cm cutout slot in the middle, going all the way trough the material.

The only problem, the slot must be tilted 17 degree from horizontal & and the center of this slot must be 2 cm off center (lower)

pleas help me

Anthony,

a picture indicating where to apply the cutout would be
helpful

How do i post/add a picture?

goto and follow the instructions
on how to upload. You'll get two pics from it one large
and one small choose the large one please. BTW: all
files you upload there are visible to the world!

Hi

Hope this works better

Anthony,

much better ;-)

I hope I got the picture. The file is zipped and V16. It
might not be the best solution but it does work ...

dy,

The picture is basicly what i need to make, the problem i have,is how to put the slot in 17 degrees while keeping the pivot point on the same vertical centerline as the centerline of the main body, and the horizontal centerline a little lower !!!

The drawing on the picture is just a example, the real measurements may be different!!

Anthony

Anthony,

that's the way the part is constructed. The slot is
50mm wide, its midpoint is 20mm below the center of the
base, and it's tilted 17 deg. against the base' face.

I've found one more solution so I've updated the file, same
location then before (holds both samples)

dy

Dy,

i can't open the file

file was created in different locale ........

Anthony,

this does not prevent the opening of the file ther is a
button to open 'as specified' or similar labeled. I often
get these type of files

dy

Dy,

I have tried all sorts of opening ( opes as / read only / etc/etc ) but no succes !!

If no other way is possible, can you explain in text what steps i have to make.

First i make my basic model (no cutouts)

I think that after clicking the cutout button, i have to select parallel plane(for setting the lower center hight)Than select Angled plane (to set 17 degrees angle),am i going the correct way ? or completely wrong ?

Altnickee,

If I may…

In Solid Edge Part.

Draw base feature. Draw your tennis racket.

Create sketch (sketch1) on face of base feature. Draw a horizontal line from the center or pivot point of your obround. Don’t draw the obround yet.

Create new sketch (sketch2) on right (yz) plane or the side view if you will. Draw a line connected from the pivot point on sketch1 and at your 17 degrees. Doesn’t matter how long the lines are.

Create new plane. Create a normal to curve plane. Select the line on sketch2, the angled line. Now you have the base plane to draw your obround cutout shape.

Cutout. Draw cutout obround shape on the normal to curve plane with the obround centered on the intersection between lines on sketch1 and sketch2.

Hope this helps,

Jef

Jef,

The cutout in your example has a angle in the Y direction also, my cutout only needs a angle ( 90-17 degrees = 73 degrees )measured from the " handles" vertical centerline

Anthony

Anthony,

which happens to be just that ;-)

@jef,

also a workable solution, good job. It can be improved
by making it more 'change resitance' (mine too).

BTW: as I see from the pictures that you are able to
read V19, true or false?

dy

Dy,

V19 ? i dont know , it seems that the pictures from Jef are made in Solid Works or pro enginering, solid edge dont uses the arrows as in the pictures.

I am still trying to make the cutout with no luck !!

As i am from the Netherlands, some technical words i dont understand, like " obround " ? So please have some patience,if i dont understand everything!!

gr Anthony

Anthony,

V19 does use the Triads (you named them arrows).

'Obround' or 'oblong' is that shape your cutout looks like
There is a function for that; you will find it as a flyout
on the Offset button when in sketch mode (Symmetric Offset)
Jef's pics should give you enough infomation to complete
your work I think, at the mo I've no clue where you got stuck

dy

Anthony,

/Edit

Dutch? hmm, then this forum might IMHO be of more help: it's
Dutch:

The site seems to be down at the mo, you have to register
to post

dy,

V19 yes. So far no problems. Loaded fine, runs fine.
