part colors

I have a generic part that has seven instances.

I would like each instance to be a different color.

I was told you can do it in the family table itself,

but cannot find the post.

It's not an easy & straightforward task. There is no way to place a part color (feature) on a family table. What you can do is make surface copies (maybe shrinkwrap or copy geoms will work, too???) for each color that you want. Then you can include just that particular colored surface for a particular instance. Good luck!
