Hello,

I am designing primarily crates (large custom crating for military etc.).

I would like to streemline my process and have a question which I would guess could be called parametric assembly.

Say for example I have a frame made of 2x4's. This would be an assembly of 4 separate parts (square frame). However I do not want to define the parameters other than square corners. This way I could alter the size of the frame (height or width) for each job without having to redraw the frame for each unique dimension each time.

Is there a way to do this? Or must I go back and change the part file each time I want to change the assembly.

I forgot to add, I am using solidworks 2012

Use "in context" design or use configurations

Ahhhh!!!! Instant 3D works very well when editing an individual part in the assembly.
