Hello All,

I've got a problem that I am surprised I haven't encountered before. Most of our designed parts have the part number and rev molded/stamped on the part. Each part has this modeled on the part. We've recently encountered a problem where the part rev changed, but the model text was not updated.

My question is, how can I make the model text parametric to the parameter "dwg_rev"? If I try putting "&dwg_rev" in the text, I get exactly the same thing. It appears as though "&" means nothing in that mode.

I just realized why I haven't encountered this problem before. At previous jobs we always just put "X"s to represent the part number/rev. At this job, they put the real alpha-numeric characters. Please don't suggest changing our current method, it isn't going to happen.

Thanks for any help or insight.

If you are using an extrude to model the molded or stamped text then while in the sketcher editing the text there is a option to "use parameter".

TobyK,

Thanks! I can't belive I didn't notice that before. Hmmm,I just checked, it does not show on WF1. Is there another way to get that option?

Thanks,

-Victor

Oh, I'm on WF3.
Can't think of another way to do it short of upgrading, sorry.

it's on Wf2... must of been when it showed up

I'm on WF2 and I've been using this for part number and revision marking. Excellent feature.

Looks like WF3 added some more options for Positions and Kerning.
