Painting Galvanized Steel 1

We are looking to reduce cost on some parts and it has been suggested that we change from aluminum to galvanized steel on the chassis and covers of these parts. I seem to remember that galvanized steel does not paint well. Is this true? Is there a process to paint galvanized steel?

If you are trying to use steel for automotive underbody applications, you should use cathodic electrocoating - this is the standard process for the auto industry.

If you need an exposed part with matched paint, then you will need a multi-step system similar to what OEM's use to coat galvanized steel.
