Can anyone point me to a an industry standard for specifiying color or paint codes? I want to use a significant dash number for color that is not vendor specific.

Search term should be "pantone" and "color codes".

There is a US federal standard that issues 6 digit codes to various colors.

I don't have it or its number handy, though..

It's FED-STD-595, not sure what the latest revision is.

There is also another color standard, RAL.
