Padeye baseplate calculation

I am trying to do a very quick calculation of the stresses in a 1 inch thick plate with two padeyes (see the attachment). I am not worried about the padeyes themselves, the welds, or the bolts, just the plate. My assumption is that the highest stresses will be in the region I point out. I would assume that Fy will cause a bending moment in this area due to the couple between Fy and Ry2. The bending moment will be simply Fy*d where d is the distance between Fy and Ry2. This can be used to calculate the My/I bending stress where I is calculated using the 1in X 10in cross-section. Fy will also cause a shear stress in the y direction. Fx will similarly cause a bending moment which acts over the 1in X 20in cross-section. I will then use Von Mises to calculate the stress state.

This is definitely a simplification. Are these simple assumptions logical? Also, is it correct to show the reaction moment where I have shown it? Any tips on my calculation method and FBD are very welcome.

Hi

If your treating the plate solely as a beam then the max bending stress for the beam would occur right under the vertical reaction Fy.
Actually I would be more concerned about the reaction of the bolts due to induced tension caused by offset loading in both horizontal and vertical directions however you have already checked these.
Can you provide the force reactions for the free body diagram?
