I'm trying to find material information for "P20+S". Specifically,

1.) What is the difference between "P20" & "P20+S"?
2.) Any restrictions on a nitriding surface treatment (gas or plasma)?
3.) I have heard that P20+S is the American equivalent to (European?) "40 CMD8+S". Can anyone verify this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
P20 is a prehardened general purpose mold steel that can be nitrided after machining in hardened and tempered condition.
In the version +S, S stands for Sulfur (0.06%) for better machinability.
The german standard is W-Nr. 1.2312 and the designation is 40CrMnMoS 8 6
Bye,
