Dear all,

Is there a method/correlation/chart to estimate the change in pressure drop over a strainer with a mesh 100 filter filtering a 25 barg oxygen gaseous stream over which we have a dP measurement (dP = 220 mbar) when changing to a higher mesh size (e.g. mesh 250)? The higher mesh has a similar open area, any idea how this will influence pressure drop? I have found limited information on the internet and most is related to water streams. Is dP mainly related to open area or to mesh size?

Thanks in advance,
SKF

Detailed procedure for calculating gas or liquid dp across wire mesh screens is in Perry Chem Eng Handbook, 6th edition, pages 5-39 to 5-40, equation 5-141. This information is also in the 7th edition at page 6-20.

Thanks for the usefull replies!
