I posted this in "Altium:PCAD" too, but looks like there is very little traffic there. So, I apologize for the double-post:

This is for anybody successfully using P-CAD with Windows-7:

Got a new computer at work - Windows 7 and a big new 25" monitor. So far, so good. But my "old" ECAD system is P-CAD 2006. Schematic seems to work OK, but PC-layout has a significant problem: in selecting OPTIONS|LAYERS, the "current layers" list is blank! That is, I cannot select existing layers to enable or disable them. Has anyone else had this experience? And of course, any suggestions on a fix or at least a work-around?

Can you run it in Windows compatibility mode? or A virtual PC session. (virtual PC from Microsoft is free)

Hello Richard,

I have the same problem here. Did you already found a solution for the problem.

Chris

Hi Chris...

Yes, I got this in another forum. Works for me:

In the main P-CAD directory (usually under C:\Program Files), find the files named *.manifest (should be 7 of them).

Just rename them, or like I did, make a sub-folder and move 'em there.

Restart PCB. That's all it takes!

(Someone reported that macros still don't work right, but since I don't ever user macros, I can't verify that.)

Hope this works for you.

Hello Richard,

This was very helpfull ! The problems are solved now.

Chris

I know of someone with this exact problem. I will pass on the info about renaming the the *.manifest files or moving them to a sub folder. Does it matter what the sub folder is called, or what the files are renamed?

Richard - can you please tell what you called your sub folder?

George

Hi George...

It doesn't matter at all. I named it "OLDMFST".

I only saved the files there so that, in case it didn't work, I could get them back. But I haven't needed to. If you don't care about that, you can just delete the "manifest" files.

Hope it works for your friend!
