Origin centering upon creation of assembly? 1

Is it possible for the first part you insert into an assembly to have it's front, top and right planes mated with that of the origin? I can find no rhyme or reason as to how that first part, the one that becomes fixed upon insertion, is placed?

Right now I have to "float" it and then mate all the planes together. Is there a simpler way?

Yes. Instead of clicking in the graphics area to place the part, just click the check box in the property manager. The part will be automatically fixed to the origin.

Yes, quite possible. I do it all the time.

Instead of dragging a component into the main display window, do the following:
[ol][li]Open the component you wish to place[/li]
[li]Arrange the SW windows so you can see the Feature Manager trees of both the component and target assembly.[/li]
[li]Select the topmost icon of the component's feature tree, and drag-and-drop it to the topmost icon of the assembly's feature tree.[/li][/ol]

Well, That was simple, now wasn't it... Thank you. I was always just dragging the parts in. Never thought about just hitting "ok".

When you insert the first model into the assy, BEFORE you release the mouse button and "drop" the part, just mouse-over the assy origin and your model origin will snap there.
It isn't really mated by planes but fixed there just the same.
If you want a specific point on your model to be at the origin of the assy, just create the model with it's origin there.

Great question! I have trained a lot of users that don't think it matters how the first part is oriented.
