Orifice Coefficient of Disharge Cd & Head Loss Coefficient K Relationship

Hi All,

Looking though some old calculations for valve sizing and performance for Jet Flow Valve orifice.

There's a formula relating both Coefficient of Discharge Cd and K without taking the Beta factor into account

K=Cd^-2 example (
According to Frank Whites Fluids book or (
The formula should look something more like

K=(1-B^4)/Cd^2

Any ideas?? Looked through all types of reference books and not finding a good reference (Rouse 1950 Eng Hydraulics may have this detail). The beta factor would be 0.80 so it would effect the head loss factor.

To a ChE, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.
 
My TP-410 is 1988 and the two formulas mentioned by Latexman are on page A-20 for "Flow Coefficient C for Square-Edge Orifices"
