Ordering a weldment cut list w/o automatic generation 2

When automatic cut list generation is turned on it creates its own folders and then puts the cut list items in some arbitrary order. But I want to decide the order. Since the order is dependent on the folder order, I have to get rid of all of the folders and make my own. But in order to do that I have to turn automatic generation off. The result, then, when I insert the cut list is nothing more than the column headings: Item No, Qty, Description, Length.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Folders??? No folders are generated when I create a weldment, a weldment drawing or a cutlist. The order shown in my cutlist matches the order of selection of the members (sketch lines) when creating the weldment.

Can you post an image of what you are seeing?

CorBlimeyLimey,

Thanks for the response. Your help is very much appreciated.

My ultimate goal is to get the cut list in the order I want while still listed in ascending order according to item number. Someone else made the drawing and I need to reorder the items without destroying the links to the part.

The attached zip file contains 6 pics which correspond to what is written below:

1. This is what I have initially. This is what is automatically generated.

2. What the resulting weldment cut list looks like. I need to reorder this list. For example, make item 2 item 4, make item 4 item 6, and make item 6 item 31.

3. The item number correspond to the folder order, as far as I know, so I need to put the bodies into folders in the right order. I want to just start from scratch instead of messing with the automatically generated folder. I can't just delete folders so I have to drag the bodies out of the folders and back into the main weldment list. The first time I do this I get the message shown.

4. As an example, I put the bodies into 3 folders as shown.

5. This is the message I get when I try to delete what is left of the original weldment cut list.

6. This is what the new weldment cut list looks like. Ignore the pink, this is a line font and there is no design table in the part.

Hi,
if I understood correctly (I did not open your pictures), based on your story you have problems with order of weldment parts in drawing, so regardless of order of cut-list item folders in part, you can still have list in order you want on drawing and still maintain order of item no-s. After you insert weldment cut-list into drawing, put baloons on all your parts, then click on baloon that correspond to line you want to move and then under Baloon Settings (on right generally after you select baloon number), under Baloon text click on list option and choose number of line you would like that part to show in drawing. That should change baloon number and also move row in question to row you wanted.
Hope it helps!

OK, I understand which folders you meant now.

In order to use the method described by mihalj the Do not change item numbers cut-list option must be de-selected.
