A method of properly reordering a cut list in SolidWorks.
1. Ensure you have at least 1 cut list item qty > 1 (pattern a body if necessary this can be removed later)
2. In the part file create an auto cut list so that the bodies are organised into the properties folders.
3. Using the cut list item with qty>1 as a holding part, move items from folder to folder in the cut list so they are arranged in the order you want. NB: if you empty a folder it will be removed thus it is important to always leave an item in each folder as you rearrange the cut list.
4. Then right click & open the properties dialog to fill in the description and other properties for each cut list folder.
5. Job done, insert cut list into drawing and auto populate items balloons
