I have built my model using one part only. However, i realize that I need to use Constraint (Tie) which (i believe) only binds two surfaces from two different parts, so I need to divide the part I built into different parts.
Can that be done,..? or I should recreat the model from the begining
Thanks for advice

Dear CSAPL

If you are using ABAQUS CAE try using "Partition" command within the Part Module. I believe it can be found under Tools->Partition. There are many ways in which a partition can be formed, so please refer to the CAE documentation on partitioning procedures.

Dear bfillery

Partition does not help as the partitioning line will not be recognized by ABAQUS as a surface.According to my humble understanding , only the border lines of a part are recognized as a surfaces the surface, unless you know a way of transferring the partitioning lines to surfaces.
please let me know if you do

Partition the body using a plane or by extruding lines, or whatever. This will give you an intenal surface. There's no need to tie an internal surface, howver, as when meshed the partitions will have concident nodes and will thus be tied (n all feredoms). If for whatever reason you need to tie surfaces together then you'd have to copy the part, remove one half from that part, and the opposite half from the original part, and then tie the surfaces of the two parts back together.
