Hi All,

I'm chasing a a supplier (preferably in Australia) of Oleophobic membranes, preferably PTFE construction with a pore size of approx 35micron (not critical, can be larger or smaller if need be).
Our application is to prevent ingress of free water, oils, glycols and amines through the membrane. Process media is generally hydrocarbon gas streams, flows are very low as they are for use on GC's.
Any pointers on who to contact for supply of this material would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

An oleophobic membrane is usually hydrophillic. If you want to exclude water and oils then you are basically just talking about an absolute filter, not a membrane. 35 microns is huge for a membrane. There are lots of 10 micron filters available. Fliters are subject to plugging so you want plenty of excess surface area.

Thanks Compositepro.
35 micron was a typo on my behalf, sorry about that, I meant to type 5 micron...... my bad.

Good ol Google digs up a number of manufacturers of membranes that are oleophobic and also hydrophobic, I just haven't been able to find one with local representation in Australia yet who wants to discuss our application with us.
I'm happy to work with overseas suppliers, but it just makes life so much easier if they are in the same time zone as us and even better if in the same city (Melbourne).

We'll be running a particulate filter upstream to help prevent clogging of the membrane and the membrane housing will be designed to drain away any free liquids from the surface of the membrane.

Cheers.
