Old Steel Joist End Connections 1

I am working on a project that has very old steel joists and joist girders. The end connections of the joist are NOT the standard end seat bearing type connections that modern joist catalogs use.

The end connections of the joists are shear connections that consist of a shear plate with steel rods/pins that are welded to the shear plate. The rods/pins connect/fit into slotted holes in vertical webs in the joist girder. Each of the rods/pins are mushroomed at their ends much like standard screw heads. The mushroomed ends fit into the slotted holes found the vertical webs of the joist girder.

Is anyone familar with these types of connections?
Can anyone provide any type of reference to these connections so I can estimate a reasonable capcity for them?
Any information on these types of joist connections will be well appreciated.

I would suggest talking to the Technical Services Department at the Steel Joist Institute. They may have some information or be able to direct you to a source.
