Old SP Eligibility

I started this company a few months ago. They have
SWX 05. Not sure when it was purchased but since then
the subscription has expired and they have never
recieved any sp upgrades. Question is are they still
eligible for any 05 upgrades. Do they still exist...???

Why not try logging into the SW site's support area with the serial from one of your licenses and give it a shot? I just checked on our SW2006 license and it seems you can still download SW2005 service packs.
 
Just checked and 5.0 is available but I need an
active subscription to get it...
 
I can't understand from your first post--if you started a company, how did "they" have SW 2005 already--when you started the company and therefore constitute "they"?

If you buy a company who holds a valid license, I believe you can kick in subscription again to get updates, but will probably also have to pay a fee along with that--but the license ought to be valid. If so, you get updates up to current version.

I would check with the VAR. They will also work up a deal so you could resume the subscription service.

What dutch 7777 is asking is how to get the service packs that were available at the time the company had a valid subscription (and therefore rightfully theirs) but never downloaded from SW website and never received from their VAR, because they either didn't know of were misinformed by their VAR. For instance my VAR is telling me that I will received updates to my copy of SW whenever they are available, but I never receive notifications about new SPs.

You'll get notifications about new SP's if you load SolidWorks, go into Help / Service Packs and put a checkmark next to "Check for a new service pack once a week." It would be better if the local VAR's gave us that notification (mine seems to notify me of everything else except that), but that's at least a way to know when they're available.
 
Hello all,

FYI if you find a bug that affects your work and it is fixed in a Service Pack, you are entitled to that Service Pack even if you don't have subscription. Talk to your VAR about this.

However, if the bug is fixed in a new release you are not entitled to that new release unless you have subsciption.

Example
Customer buys 2005 SP4.0 no subscription, finds a bug that is fixed in 2005 SP5.0, then they are entitled to SP5.0.

Customer buys 2005 SP5.0 no subscription, finds a bug that is fixed in 2006 SP0, they are not entitled to 2006 SP0.
