Yes,
Look for flip last chamfer in the dialog that is presented immediately after the chamfer is created. Unfortunately this is your one chance to get it right. The option is not available using edit parameters, or at any other time.

In NX3 the "flip" option is only available if you start the command with the Chamfer icon. If you select an edge, MB3 and choose Chamfer then the "flip" option does not become available.

Of course, this is all a moot point if and when you update to at least NX 4, both in the sense of being able to flip the 'direction' of the Chamfer during Creation or later as part of an Edit operation.

That's true John, but he did say he was on 3.0.5.3 and if he NEEDS to use the "flip" option, then he'll have to start with the icon.

Isn't this all going to fast? Who can keep up this pace?
I started on Unigraphics 9 years ago, V15 remember. In that time I saw that the pace of the new releases increasing all the time. From what I hear more and more users are not changing versions because of new features in the first place, but because support on older versions is dropped.
To my opinion Unigraphics underestimates the effort it takes users to change versions.
I don't want to sound like a grumpy old man, because I'm not, but writing this is a kind of releave.
Isn't this all going to fast? Who can keep up this pace?

We've already streached out the annual release cycle for NX to about 15 months, however that's a 2-edged sword since a longer development cycle also means that we have the opportunity, to say nothing of there being more chances to be pressured, to add additional and/or more complex projects. After all, much of the content of releases now are the result of business wins which brings with them both new customers and new demands on our products. And while maintenance revenues are not a trivial portion of our business, like with any company, it's the new sales wins that are the measure of an organizations success and which assures us that there will be sufficient resources available to both maintain and support their current product lines as well as provide the R&D dollars needed to stay competitive.
As for your comments, we're fully aware of the impact that these releases can and do have on our customers, but you also have to understand that delivering on our commitments to both NEW and EXISTING customers does require that we continue to enhance and deliver at as fast a pace as is practical new and enhanced products that will in most cases replace existing products and which means that eventually we have to assume that our customers are going to upgrade as that is the only way that they can benefit from the investment that they continue to make with us in the form of mainteance payments and the incremental expansion of their use of our products and services.

Look I got a bit caught out on this post when John corrected my earlier post about the editing of chamfer features in NX-4 onward. I hate it when that happens, but when it is coming from John I can swallow my pride a bit. Anyway he was pointing out an enhancement, which is in this case a good thing.
I happen to think we ought to get something for our maintenance dollar so if the product can be improved then we ought to embrace the principle that to stand still is to go backwards relative to progress. If that means learning something new make new gains then so be it. If on the other hand it only means that we need to purchase extra licenses to get that benefit then I'm less than impressed.
I have had about 20 years of UG/NX and can recall the good releases and a few that caused some pain. Of everyone who suffered version 10, nobody would honestly want to turn back the clock to the pre-version 9 UG at this late stage. And so it goes....
Some releases have been easier to migrate to than others and gieter's point that it shouldn't be too hard is probably a valid one. Between versions 11 and 18 Unigraphics, as it was then, developed a consistent flavor that served it well until NX came along. The user interface has taken a couple of about turns since that time, hopefully it is settling into a more consistent mode that will give you less trouble from NX-5 into the future.

Thanks for both your opinions/comments.
Consider my post as steam release from a pressure valve. In our business UG is just a supporting tool. All the fuss on changing versions, exploring the new things, learning new features and new operations, looking for the consequences and updating our standart parts is all additional work. Being part of an SME, we can't fall back on systems operators doing this all for us.
Hudson's right that we should get worth for our maintenance money. After all, again for an SME, it's a huge amount. But still ... What the heck.
By the way, don't you guy's ever sleep? Here in Europe it's monday already. Overthere it should be middle of the night.
