I'm looking for a CDMA module that can be incorperated into a design. Presently have a complete packaged device, but the cost is $400, so I'd like to find something smaller and cheapter. The size of this unit is about that of the old style telco desktop modems. It also needs to be a type approved of course, and compatible with as many cell providers as possible.

Pointers anyone?

There's a company in Florida, kinda flakey.. Like all the modem companies. (the company that is)[your milage may vary]. I will look up the name and get back.. I think the price is about $200ish.

This is a little board set the size of a deck of cards, but about half the thickness . No packaging.. Is this what you are talking about?

yes...small and cheap. Course reliable is best, but I will let the company that I am contracting with decide if thats what they want to go with.

Thanks very much

Hi hrc; They are called Land Cell.

They use a Kyocera CDMA modem that's pretty nice. The thing is the Kyocera modem runs on 3somthing volts and you have to come up with your own supply and talk to it with 3V levels.

Land Cell does the power supply, you just provide 12VDC and they add RS-232 interfacing for you. They will also put them in nice enclosures if you're into that kind of stuff.

Here you go;

Thanks for the info. I didn't see just a stand alone module but thats ok, just means I don't have to come up with some of the circuitry for it. Typically they will run the actual controller and modem on 3.3V for the core voltage.

Again, thanks very much for the info
