Obsoleting family table instances

I have set the parts to be obsoleted as such in the CN. I modified 4 of the remaining parts and when I try to check in the drawing, I get an error that I can't because all the parts need to be checked in at the same time. The 2 obsolete parts are still at released in my workspace because they are set to be obsoleted. How do I get around this?
