I was encouraged by this thread, and John Bakers initial response. Nobody took the bait, and his final response didn't disclose exactly how to solve this issue in NX9.

I don't understand what it is that you want, you run NX9 and when you zoom in , the facets are a bit crude, - too crude.
Have you tried what I proposed in the thread you link to ?
= RMB the graphics window - Update display.
I see no difference in what that does to earlier versions.
It will give you updated facets, - a smooth look.
