From my experience, SW is handier drafting in the Manufacturing environement mainly because of their configurations tools, 3D associative sketching , assembly mates , system attributes and how they handle english and metric units.
In my opinion, NX is a bit better in top down modeling. Their wavelinking works a little better than the SW version, but they might have improved it since I last used it. Also NX is a PLM system which means that you can directly link the models to CNC programing and CMM inspection. There are aftermarket programs out there for CNC programming that work inside solidworks that work ok. As far as CMM inspection I don't think anyone uses it because you still need PCDMIS or another DMIS interface to run the CMM.
