NX8 Revise sketch plane on curve

OK, I know you can make a Datum Plane on a curve or feature edge, enter a percentage of the edge, etc. to position it on the curve, then procede to select Sketch, then select the datum plane (on plane), etc.

Alternatively, you can select Sketch, On Curve, then pick your edge curve to define the sketch plane, etc. But, this method does not give you the option to "create a datum" plane, you manually define a "plane" to start the sketch on, then proced with your sketch, etc.

My question is, if you choose this second method to begin your sketch plane on a curve edge, and sometime later you wish to re-define the position of the plane you sketched on, where/how can you do that? Is there a way? Or is it just standard practice to make adjustable Datum Planes on edges/curves to sketch on all the time, whether you think you may have to go back and alter the plane definition/position later or not.

I hope that my question is explained correctly.

If you right click on the sketch and choose "edit parameters" then "reattach", you will be given the option to edit the "datum plane" parameters.

Alternatively, you could have used the original 'Sketch Type' of 'On Plane' and instead of using the 'Inferred' 'Plane Method', you could have set this to 'Create Plane' and when asked to 'Specify Plane' choose the 'On Curve' option there. The result would be exactly the same as IF you HAD created a separate Datum Plane prior to creating your Sketch. However, cowksi is correct that if you had followed YOUR approach of creating the Sketch 'On Curve' to start with, that you can still edit it's position, while in the Sketch task, and with the added benefit that the Datum Plane will be created as part of the Sketch itself and will thus simplify the content of the Part Navigtor.
