Hello,

I have a problem. Since NX8 the default engage and retract feed settings has changed from 100%Cut to Rapid (Feed rates-Feed rates-More). This is very bad default setting, because the cutter can be inside material at the time, i broke several mills until i found out this has changed since NX7.5...

Is there any way to change this back to 100%Cut or other custom value.

I can do it manualy every time, but it takes time...

Thank you.

Change the Template file. All of the operations use a template. Open the template file and change the feeds to the desired values.

For example when you create an operation and select a type such a mill_planar you are using a template part that is named mill_planar if you make any changes to th template then this will become the default setting. If you understand templates then great, if not I would recommend reading the docs on this very important topic. Templates can save you a great deal of time and as we all know time IS money.

Thank you for your explanation joyceo.

It turned out i made a mistake, the default setting is correct. The thing that changed since NX7.5 is when I push "Set machining data" wich I imported from the previous version, engage and retract are set to Rapid.

I found out that I can solve the problem when Editing all machining data libraries Engage and Retract do 100. I think this is a bug since default values are 0, so nothing should change if I set it automaticly, right??

The question of what a zero feed really means has caused us some confusion over the years, so in NX8 we eliminated them. Now you explicitly say if you want rapid, %Cut, or an exact value, and WYSIWYG.

Your engage value of 0 in the machining database should have coverted to 100 %Cut. This is a known issue.
