You have been able to open Catia models and Save Catia models in NX for quite some time, Also Open JT has been with us for awhile as well. Pro-E, I don't recall anymore.
Even though it is not in the file extensions of the file open, doesn't mean it can't handle it. I believe it was theorem (SP) translator that make this possible.
Nice direct model functionality, I would guess it is NX not solid edge.
