I'm using NX5 currently and i'm having problems with a simple dynamic model. I have created a disc 7.5mm dia x 2mm depth made of stainless amd added the link and the joint. I now would like to rotate the disc with a torsion spring.
- My spring has a rate of 0.2Nmm/deg
- Pre loaded to 15deg therefore has 3Nmm Torque
- Max operating angle is 24deg
I'm asked for spring stiffness and free angle, I don't see how this fully defines the spring. Plus it doesn't mention units?
I entered free angle 39deg (thats my 24deg + 15deg)
My solver uses 10 sec and 500 steps.
My results show the disc moves 4.6deg then bounces back I can't figure this out am I messing up my inputs? I would expect it to accelerate for the free angle deccelerate an almost equivalent angle adding up to just less than 48deg.
Hope you can help

Oh! I though I'd have a response to this by now i'm a newby to using forums for engineering subjects have I posted in the incorrect place? Or am I just impatient?
